We are leading a trip to the wooded area of western Pennsylvania where you can enjoy the harmonious surroundings of summer and explore the house known worldwide as a resonant feat of architectural achievement and a UNESCO World Heritage site! Join the Politics and Prose walking tour from Union Station to Union Market, and along the way we will see buildings dating from the 19th century up through today. We will also discuss significant historic events which occurred in these neighborhoods, and see the places in which they occurred; events in the worlds of politics, sports, music, architecture and urban design.

Join Joe Himalli for a tour of the Kalorama neighborhood and explore the architectural styles of the buildings and hear the stories of the people who shaped the neighborhood and the city as a whole.

Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Kathy Sykes will lead an early summer walk along the Connecticut Ave pollinator corridor. This past spring had unseasonably cool weather which kept flowers in bloom a little longer. The weather is warming up and summer native plants are emerging such as bee balm, milkweed and penstemon. You will learn some new ways to attract pollinators to your garden whether you have full sunlight, part shade or full shade.

May 4, 2024 from 8:00am to 6:00pm ET we will leave from Conn. Ave Store.

See the "Thinker" sculpture in person and van Gogh up close. In the late morning, we will walk through the Rodin garden and see his art on display in the gallery. Then after lunch study color, lines, space and light in the works of Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso at the Barnes Foundation.

Join former Howard University and University of Michigan professor Michele L. Simms-Burton for a lively and spirited tour of Black expatriate writers living and writing in Paris, France. Explore Black Parisian culture, stroll the streets and visit the cafes where these writers once walked and wrote, learn about their conflicts and resolutions, discover why they made a go of it in Paris, and examine why Black creatives once expatriated to Paris and continue to do so.

Join Eric Denker, Ph.D., author, expert in Venetian art, and a favorite lecturer at the National Gallery of Art, on this exploration of beautiful Venice. Eric will take us to his favorite sites, including the Palazzo Ducale, the Academia art museum, the Scuola Grande San Rocco (where Eric is the first American member), Ca d’Oro historic house, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the islands Murano, Burano and Torcello in the Venetian lagoon.
