NEW AND RECENT CLASSICAL 

Philippe Jaroussky, LA VANITÀ DEL MONDO: Oratorio Arias (Erato, $18.98) – For the first time, countertenor Philippe Jaroussky devotes a project to Italian Baroque oratorios, which “bring… the persona of a saint, even God himself, to life.” Jaroussky sings with his group Artaserse, and the composers include Caldara, Scarlatti, Torri, Handel, Bononcini, Hasse, Marcello, Fago, and Chelleri. 

BEETHOVEN: THE COMPLETE SONATAS for Violin/Cello & Piano (Harmonia Mundi, 6-CDs, $29.98) – Celebrate the Beethoven Year 250 with this wonderful budget box set. It collects the duo (and trio) work of the long-time musical partners, violinist Isabelle Faust, cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras, and pianist Alexander Melnikov.
