Yuri Herrera - Kingdom Cons

Upcoming Event
Friday, June 30, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

One of Mexico’s top fiction writers, Herrera, now teaching at Tulane, was already an international literary star when he made his English-language debut with Signs Preceding the End of the World, winner of the 2016 Best Translated Book Award. This haunting story of migration was followed by The Transmigration of Bodies, another tour de force of style that grapples with the struggle to navigate a treacherous world. Herrera’s third novel plunges yet deeper into shadowy territory, drawing on allegory and fable to trace the struggle between a ruthless drug lord and an Artist bent on telling truth to power and helping others resist.

Herrera will be in conversation with Roy Kesey, author of five books, and translator of Pola Oloixarac's debut novel, Savage Theories.
