Whitney Terrell - The Good Lieutenant

Monday, June 20, 2016 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Currently an assistant professor of English and creative writing at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Terrell has an MFA from the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop and is the author of The Huntsman. In his third novel, Terrell draws on his two stints as a journalist embedded with U.S. forces in Iraq. Starting with the explosive failure of a military operation, the narrative traces a chain of circumstances that includes not only faulty intelligence, dubious informants, and unrealistic objectives, but several figures who seem tangential, yet prove crucial in unforeseeable ways.

Terrell will be in conversation with Nate Rawlings, a former Time international writer and former Army officer who served two tours in Iraq.
