Valeria Luiselli - Lost Children Archive

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, February 19, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Luiselli, a writer of dazzling range and power who was one of the National Book Foundation’s “5 Under 35,” follows up her acclaimed Tell Me How It Ends, a nonfiction account of her experiences volunteering as an interpreter for young Central American migrants to the U.S., with a novel that examines the troubling moral and political questions surrounding migration. Adapting the classic American road novel, Luiselli follows a family driving from New York to Arizona, where the father plans to research a sound documentary on an ancient Apache tribal land. Along the way the mother, a radio journalist and, with her son, one of the book’s primary narrators, gets caught up in stories of migrant children in detention centers, concerns that both inflame and inform the family’s own domestic instability.
