Upcoming Event
Monday, November 4, 2019 - 7:00pm

Politics and Prose has partnered up with Brightest Young Things' "Death Becomes Us" true crime festival to bring you three award-winning women writers who are redefining the true crime genre for a panel, discussion, and book signing.

Maureen Callahan, author of the instant New York Times bestseller American Predator, is an award-winning investigative journalist, author, columnist, and commentator. Her book follows one of the most ambitious and terrifying serial killers in modern history: Israel Keyes. It is the ambitious culmination of years of interviews with key figures in law enforcement and in Keyes's life, and research uncovered from classified FBI files. Callahan takes us on a journey into the chilling, nightmarish mind of a relentless killer, and to the limitations of traditional law enforcement.

Sarah Weinman is the author of The Real Lolita, tells Sally Horner's full story for the very first time. Drawing upon extensive investigations, legal documents, public records, and interviews with remaining relatives, Weinman uncovers how much Nabokov knew of the Sally Horner case and the efforts he took to disguise that knowledge during the process of writing and publishing Lolita.

Carolyn Murnick is the author of The Hot One, a memoir about her search for answers surrounding her childhood best friend's murder. It's a journey that takes her through the hills of Hollywood and back to her own childhood memories as she tries to unravel how she and her friend became so different. Recommended by NPR, Entertainment Weekly, and Buzzfeed, the book is a testament to the power of female friendships and a tribute to the ones that stay with you long after they're gone.
