Thomas P. Kapsidelis - After Virginia Tech: Guns, Safety, and Healing in the Era of Mass Shootings — in conversation with Colin Goddard

Upcoming Event
Sunday, April 28, 2019 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

As the Richmond Times-Dispatch metro editor in 2007, Kapsidelis was in charge of the paper’s coverage of the April 16 mass shootings at Virginia Tech. In the dozen years since the gunman, a Tech undergraduate, shot and killed thirty-two people and wounded seventeen, Kapsidelis, now a residential fellow with the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, has followed the activities of the survivors. His book reports on both the psychological and social aftermath of the tragedy, charting the school’s and the town’s long healing process and examining the reforms in gun safety and background checks the tragedy set in motion to prevent future mass shootings. Kapsidelis will be in conversations with Colin Goddard, a national gun safety advocate and survivor of the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings.
