Terry McAuliffe - Beyond Charlottesville: Taking a Stand Against White Nationalism

Governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018, McAuliffe declared a state of emergency in Charlottesville when white supremacists descended on the town in August 2017. His action was undermined by Trump, however, who, finding “hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides,” failed to condemn the racism and thus fomented the hatred that led to the killing of Heather Heyer.
