Teasel E. Muir-Harmony - Apollo to the Moon: A History in 50 Objects — at Politics and Prose at Union Market

Upcoming Event
Sunday, November 11, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Fifty years ago, NASA’s Apollo mission put humans on the moon and forever changed the way we see ourselves and our place in the universe. To celebrate that truly revolutionary achievement, Muir-Harmony, a space historian and curator at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, presents fifty objects that illuminate different facets of this remarkable story. In addition to commentary on iconic artifacts like the lunar rover, moon rocks, space food, and the Apollo 11 command module, and appreciations of artworks inspired by the landing, Muir-Harmony recounts the experiences of people who made the project possible, from NASA scientists, astronauts and ground crew to President John F. Kennedy and Walter Cronkite.
