Sarah Van Gelder - The Revolution Where You Live: Stories from a 12,000-Mile Journey Through a New America

In her first book, van Gelder, the cofounder and editor-at-large of YES! Magazine, reports from parts of the country that are seldom seen in the media but that, together, map a new America. Taking the back roads through eighteen states, from Montana and North Dakota to Illinois and New Jersey, van Gelder visits overlooked and under-served areas, including five Native American reservations, where residents aren’t waiting for the government to step in but are coming up with creative and innovative ways to tackle social and environmental problems.

Van Gelder will be in conversation with Marc Steiner, host of The Marc Steiner Show, and founder of the nonprofit Center for Emerging Media.
