Sandra Beasley - I Was The Jukebox

An essayist, former editor for The American Scholar, and acclaimed poet, Beasley won the 2007 New Issues Prize for her first collection of poems, Theories of Falling. Her second has now been awarded the 2009 Barnard Women Poets Prize whose judge, Joy Harjo, cited Beasley’s work as “fresh, crisp, decisive and fearless.”
