Sam Pizzigati - The Case for a Maximum Wage

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, July 24, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

As economic disparity and its attendant social ills increase, many have proposed the Universal Basic Income, which could ensure that everyone has a bare minimum of subsistence. Examining the other side of this coin, Pizzigati asks why we can’t limit the compensation paid out to the very rich. Elaborating on the idea of a “maximum wage,” Pizzigati, associate fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies and co-editor of Inequality.org, draws on work by egalitarians throughout the world to show how governments can use their tax systems to encourage more equitable wages and eventually bring about a world free of the wealthiest 1%.
