Rae DelBianco - Rough Animals — in conversation with Devin Symons — at Politics and Prose at The Wharf

Upcoming Event
Monday, July 9, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

DelBianco’s powerful debut novel is a story of survival that draws on Wild West sagas and the fairy tale motif of an orphaned brother and sister. Wyatt and Lucy Smith, twins, have been scraping by on their own since inheriting their family’s isolated Utah ranch five years ago. Their precarious livelihood is threatened when a disturbed fourteen-year-old girl shoots most of their cattle. Leaving Lucy to manage on her own, Wyatt sets out after the shooter, making a perilous twelve-day journey down the mountains of Box Elder to Monument Valley and back.  Along the way he confronts not only the dangers nature throws in his way, but outlaw bikers, meth labs, and the surprises of what his own desperation can make him capable of. DelBianco will be in conversation with Devin Symons, a Washington-based writer, artist, and translator.
