R. O. Kwon - The Incendiaries — in conversation with Nicole Chung — at Politics and Prose at Union Market

Upcoming Event
Friday, September 14, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Kwon’s eagerly-awaited debut novel has the intensity of a thriller and the emotional power of a complicated love story. The narrative focuses on Will and Phoebe, two students who fall for each other during their first weeks at Edwards University. Will has transferred from a Bible college and is struggling to leave behind his fundamentalist background. Phoebe is guilt-ridden over the death of her mother and increasingly drawn to an extremist cult—and to its charismatic leader, who has ties to North Korea and to Phoebe’s family. Will can only watch as her attraction becomes obsession, and when she disappears in the wake of the group’s shocking act of violence, he is left to confront his own guilt. Kwon will be in conversation with Nicole Chung, editor-in-chief of Catapult magazine, former managing editor of The Toast, and author of the forthcoming memoir All You Can Ever Know.
