P&P Live! Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed - When Stars Are Scattered

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, April 14, 2020 - 2:00pm

Will school change Omar’s life? Omar, a Somali boy, and his chronically ill younger brother have spent most of their lives in Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya. Their father was killed and they were separated from their mother while fleeing civil war. Life is difficult: there is never enough food or medical care. Omar’s chance to attend school, possibly changing his family’s future, forces him to make tough decisions about leaving his brother every day with their elderly foster mother. Omar Mohammed, a Somalian refugee now living in the United States and Newbery Honor-winning creator of Roller GirlVictoria Jamieson, collaborated to present a poignant yet hopeful story of perseverance inspired by Omar’s life. Ages 9-13
