P&P Live! Terry Catasús Jennings-The Knight of the Cape and Captain Dom's Treasure
Dominguita misses her Abuela who had to move away, but she still has the books in Spanish that Abuela brought from Cuba. When her constant reading riles the class bully, Dominguita proves that she has many friends eager to share her reading adventures. In this new early chapter book series, Dominguita has escapades inspired by plots from classic literature including Don Quijote, Treasure Island, The Three Musketeers, and The Hounds of Baskervilles. The author will share her tips and tricks for creating a series including the maps she made to build Dominguita’s world.
Terry Catasús Jennings immigrated to the US on September 11, 1961, and was enrolled in an American school the next day. Twelve-year-old Terry could count in English and recite the days of the week and the months of the year, but not much more. She was often the only Cuban in her school and has used her experiences to portray Dominguita for this new series. She is a graduate of the University of Richmond, an essayist and humorist, and a writer of nonfiction for children. A local author, Terry lives in Reston, Virginia and is a member of the SCBWI, Las Musas Latinx Collective and the Children’s Book Guild of Washington, DC.
