P&P Live! : Sopan Deb - Missed Translations: Meeting the Immigrant Parents Who Raised Me, in conversation with Ali Vitali

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, April 21, 2020 - 8:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

Growing up as one of the few South Asians in a predominantly white town, Deb handled his alienation by distancing himself from his family and seeking to join the culture he saw around him. This strategy led him to a successful career as a stand-up comedian and an award-winning journalist—Deb has written on a host of topics for outlets including The New York Times, NBC, Al Jazeera and the Boston Globe, and to being singled out as a “breakout media star by Politico for his work as an embed with CBS News covering the Trump campaign. But by the time he was thirty, he yearned to reconnect with his parents. His moving memoir recounts how he revitalized his relationship with his mother and journeyed to India to get to know his father. Ali Vitali is a reporter for NBC News and MSNBC.
