P&P Live! Ruth Ben-Ghiat — Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present - in conversation with George Conway

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, November 17, 2020 - 8:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

Professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat discusses her new book, "Strongmen" with George Conway on P&P Live! In partnership with Protect Democracy.

Recounting the acts of solidarity and dignity that have undone strongmen over the past 100 years, Ben-Ghiat makes vividly clear that only by seeing the strongman for what he is—and by valuing one another as he is unable to do—can we stop him, now and in the future.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat is Professor of History and Italian Studies at New York University. She writes on authoritarian leaders, fascism, and propaganda. A regular contributor to CNN and other news and analysis sites, she appears frequently on radio, podcasts, and television and is quoted in news stories around the world on threats to democracy and how to counter them. Her latest book, Strongmen: From Mussolini to the Present, will be published by W.W. Norton & Company in November 2020.

George T. Conway III, a Washington Post contributing columnist, is a lawyer and is an adviser to the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump super PAC.

Instead of a set ticket price, we ask that you contribute what you can to support Politics and Prose Bookstore and our virtual event series. We know that everyone has been affected in these trying times, and we will continue to make our programming accessible to all. That said, a suggested contribution of $5, $10, whatever you can afford, will go a long way to keep our programming—and our bookstore—afloat as we are forced to adapt to new ways of business.

The other way you can support us is always by purchasing a book from our website.

We are so grateful to be surrounded by such a loyal and engaged community and we thank you for your support, now and always.
