P&P Live! : Rachel Wilkerson Miller - The Art of Showing Up - with Brittany Luse & in partnership with Girls Night In

Upcoming Event
Friday, June 19, 2020 - 8:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series in partnership with Girls Night In

Rachel Wilkerson Miller, deputy editor of Vice's Life vertical and author of Dot Journaling, provides digital natives an easy, entertaining guide to adult friendships. Her stance that "self-knowledge is at the core of showing up" forms the basis of her instructions on identifying one's own values, preferences, emotions, needs, and boundaries. Filled with many spirited aphorisms ("You--yes, you!--can do these things! They may feel hard, but they are good and fine!"), the book provides readers with scripts to navigate a variety of social encounters, strategies for making new friends, and advice for "when they're going through hard shit." All those looking for help braving the social unknown will want to take a look.

Miller will be in conversation with Brittany Luse, producer and host of The Nod. In her spare time, she co-hosts For Colored Nerds, an independent podcast about race, news, and pop culture.

Instead of a set ticket price, we ask that you contribute what you can to support Politics and Prose Bookstore and our virtual event series. We know that everyone has been affected in these trying times, and we will continue to make our programming accessible to all. That said, a suggested contribution of $5, $10, whatever you can afford, will go a long way to keep our programming—and our bookstore—afloat as we are forced to adapt to new ways of business.

The other way you can support us is always by purchasing a copy of the book from our website, which you can reach from the green button in the event.

We are so grateful to be surrounded by such a loyal and engaged community and we thank you for your support, now and always.
