P&P Live! Lindsay Metcalf, Keila Dawson, and Jeanette Bradley-No Voice Too Small: Fourteen Young Americans Making History

Upcoming Event
Friday, October 23, 2020 - 2:00pm

Powerful poems by authors including Lesléa Newman, Traci Sorell, and Nikki Grimes introduce fourteen young activists currently taking action in their communities and the United States. From Viridiana Sanchez Santos's quinceañera demonstration against anti-immigrant policy to Zach Wahls's moving declaration that he and his two moms were a family like any other, this gorgeously illustrated book celebrates the young people who know how to be the change they seek. Additional text goes into detail about each youth activist's life and how readers can get involved. Join the volume’s three editors as they discuss their process and share video of some of the contributors sharing their poems.

Lindsay Metcalf grew up on a Kansas farm, flew the coop for a career in the city, and migrated home to write downwind of the neighborhood cattle. She is the author of two more books coming out this fall: Beatrix Potter, Scientist, illustrated by Junyi Wu, and Farmers Unite! Planting a Protest for Fair Prices. An experienced journalist, Lindsay has covered a variety of change-makers as a reporter, editor, and columnist for The Kansas City Star and other news outlets.

Keila Dawson was born and raised in New Orleans. She has been a community organizer and an educator, traveling the world with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. She is committed to re-documenting her family history after journals and photographs were lost in the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, and lives in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jeanette Bradley has been an urban planner, an apprentice pastry chef, and the artist-in-residence for a traveling art museum on a train. She is the author and illustrator of Love, Mama, and the illustrator of When the Babies Came to Stay. She lives in Rhode Island with her wife and kids.
