P&P Live! : Lily King - Writers & Lovers – in conversation with Paula McLain

Upcoming Event
Monday, March 30, 2020 - 6:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

King follows her hugely popular Euphoria with a beautifully observed portrait of the artist as a struggling young woman. Her engaging protagonist is Casey Peabody, age 31 and living in a down-market apartment, waiting tables, and working diligently on her fiction. While Casey refuses to settle for an ordinary domestic life as her friends have, not all her challenges are artistic. She’s mourning the death of her mother, worrying about student loans, and navigating a complicated love life—having ended an affair with a married poet, she rejects a writer languishing in writer’s block, and finds herself attracted to a widowed novelist. And looming in the background is her estrangement from her father and the promising golf career she abandoned when she was fourteen.
