P&P Live! Jewell Parker Rhodes and Kelly McWilliams - Black Brother, Black Brother and Agnes at the End of the World

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, June 30, 2020 - 7:00pm

Join us for an unforgettable event as two critically acclaimed authors discuss their powerful new releases. Jewell Parker Rhodes’ Black Brother, Black Brother examines racism, colorism, and the school-to-prison pipeline as 12-year-old Donte grapples with the ways he’s treated differently from his white-presenting brother. Agnes at the End of the World, a suspenseful YA debut from Parker Rhodes’ daughter, Kelly McWilliams, follows a young woman trapped in a patriarchal cult as a pandemic devastates the outside world.

In what is sure to be a dynamic and insightful conversation, Parker Rhodes and McWilliams will explore topics including race and mixed-race family life, their publishing journeys, writing as women and feminists, the impact of art on society, the craft of writing for children and teens, and the importance of diversity in literature. Ages 10 and up.

Signed bookplates, postcards, bookmarks and stickers will be sent with the purchase of Agnes At the End of the World whiles supplies last.

Black Brother, Black Brother t-shirts will be sent with the purchase of Black Brother, Black Brother while supplies last.
