P&P Live! Jessi Jezewska Stevens - The Exhibition of Persephone Q — in conversation with Emily Mitchell

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, March 18, 2020 - 7:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

A New York-based writer and fiction teacher, Stevens in her haunting and perceptive debut novel examines the post-9/11 world from the perspective of a woman who increasingly finds herself estranged from her own life. Set in Manhattan just weeks after the Twin Towers fell, the narrative follows Percy, a freelance writer who, discovering she’s pregnant, inexplicably can’t tell anyone—not even her husband. Her increasing alienation from him comes as a series of odd events culminates in her being sent the catalog for her former fiancé’s photography show. Though all the pictures are of Percy, no one else recognizes her—a confusion that raises acute questions of reality and identity in the digital age. Stevens will be in conversation with Emily Mitchell, author of The Last Summer of the World and Viral.
