P&P Live!: Cli-fi, Literature, and Activism with Jenny Offill

Upcoming Event
Sunday, July 26, 2020 - 5:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

This event is presented in partnership with the Chesapeake Climate Action Network.

New York Times-bestselling author Jenny Offill will discuss her novel Weather with the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, an anxious and funny novel that follows a librarian who is gradually awakened to the climate crisis and tries to balance that with her daily life. As a Guardian reporter put it, “At its core, the story asks: what happens after we start to pay attention?” This event will contain a discussion of both the novel and the answer to that question.

Offill will discuss how literature and activism are connected with Denise Robbins, Communications Director for the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, including how this story resonates in the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of a set ticket price, we ask that you contribute what you can to support Politics and Prose Bookstore and our virtual event series. We know that everyone has been affected in these trying times, and we will continue to make our programming accessible to all. That said, a suggested contribution of $5, $10, whatever you can afford, will go a long way to keep our programming—and our bookstore—afloat as we are forced to adapt to new ways of business.

The other way you can support us is always by purchasing a copy of the book from our website.

We are so grateful to be surrounded by such a loyal and engaged community and we thank you for your support, now and always.
