P&P Live! Bill Konigsberg-The Bridge—with David Levithan

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, June 9, 2021 - 7:00pm

Aaron and Tillie don’t know each other, but they are both feeling suicidal, and arrive at the George Washington Bridge at the same time, intending to jump. Aaron is a gay misfit struggling with depression and loneliness. Tillie isn’t sure what her problem is — only that she will never be good enough.

On the bridge, there are four things that could happen:

  1. Aaron jumps and Tillie doesn’t.
  2. Tillie jumps and Aaron doesn’t.
  3. They both jump.
  4. Neither of them jumps.

Or maybe all four things happen, in this astonishing and insightful novel from Bill Konigsberg.

Bill Konigsberg is the award-winning author of six young adult novels, including The Porcupine of Truth, which won the PEN Center USA Literary Award and the Stonewall Book Award in 2016, and Openly Straight, which won the Sid Fleischman Award for Humor, and was a finalist for the Amelia Elizabeth Walden Award and Lambda Literary Award in 2014. In 2019, The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)’s Assembly on Literature for Adolescents (ALAN) established the Bill Konigsberg Award for Acts and Activism for Equity and Inclusion through Young Adult Literature. He lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with his husband, Chuck, and their Australian Labradoodles, Mabel and Buford.

David Levithan is the author of many acclaimed YA novels, including Every Day, Boy Meets Boy, and Two Boys Kissing. His most recent novel is The Mysterious Disappearance of Aidan S. (as told to his brother). By day, he is a publisher and editorial director at Scholastic.
