P&P Live! : Amity Gaige - Sea Wife, in conversation with Lauren Groff

Upcoming Event
Saturday, May 2, 2020 - 6:00pm

This event will be streamed online as part of our P&P Live! Series.

Named one of the “5 Under 35” outstanding emerging writers by the National Book Foundation, the award-wining Gaige follows her acclaimed Schroder—named to the top best of lists of 2013—with a beautifully written novel that combines the intimate detail of a family story with the pace and surprise of a sea-faring tale. The narrative follows Michael, Juliet, and their two children as they leave their somewhat stale lives—as well as Juliet’s post-partum depression and stalled dissertation—for Panama to take possession of a forty-four-foot sailboat. Their transformative voyage is recounted through the running entries in Michael’s captain’s log as well as by Juliet, whose retrospective account complicates her husband’s take on things.

Gaige will be in conversation with Lauren Groff, author of, most recently, Florida, as well as three novels and one other short story collection.
