Alka Joshi was born in India and raised in the U.S since the age of nine. She has a BA from Stanford University and an MFA from California College of Arts. Joshi’s debut novel, The Henna Artist became a New York Times bestseller and a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick, was translated into 26 languages, and is being developed into a Netflix limited series. The sequel, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur, also a bestseller, is being translated into multiple languages and will be followed by a third book in the trilogy in 2023. Prior to becoming a full-time author, Joshi ran her own advertising and marketing agency in Northern California.
Joshi will be in conversation with Kate Quinn, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of historical fiction. A native of southern California, she attended Boston University where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classical Voice. She has written four novels in the Empress of Rome Saga, and two books in the Italian Renaissance, before turning to the 20th century with “The Alice Network”, “The Huntress,” “The Rose Code,” and “The Diamond Eye.” All have been translated into multiple languages. Kate and her husband now live in San Diego with three rescue dogs.
