Whyman’s first book is a collection of linked stories that follows the life, loves, and misadventures of Miranda Weber. Whether grappling with the fate of her disabled sister, dodging crackheads, worrying how to thwart terrorists, or enduring another dysfunctional relationship, Miranda keeps her wits—and her wit—about her. Whyman’s work has appeared in The Rumpus, McSweeney’s Quarterly, The Gettysburg Review, and other literary journals. Her essays have appeared in The Washington Post and her commentary has aired on NPR.
