Natascha Biebow - The Crayon Man: The True Story of the Invention of Crayola Crayons

Upcoming Event
Thursday, May 2, 2019 - 10:30am

What child doesn’t love coloring? Before inventor Edwin Binney, the only crayons people could buy were expensive ones from Europe. Binney listened to the complaints of his children, and heard his schoolteacher wife’s woes over the limited choices that children had to express their creativity, and decided to do something about it. He was inspired by nature’s vibrant colors and, after much experimentation, succeeded in making crayons that would be available to all children. Just like that, Crayola crayons were born! Ages 6 - 9 This is a Children’s Book Week event.

This event is free to attend and open to the public, however, reservations are required for school groups interested in attending. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.
