Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah - Friday Black — at Politics and Prose at Union Market

Upcoming Event
Thursday, October 25, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

In his eagerly anticipated debut collection of short stories, Adjei-Brenyah deploys a wide range of literary modes—surrealism, satire, fantasy—to show us how racism and intolerance really work in today’s society. One story presents racism as a sport, others dramatize the deep flaws of the justice system and the insidious effects of consumerism. Each piece powerfully illuminates the hypocrisies and tragedies we’ve grown used to, and demands that we take action. Adjei-Brenyah’s work has appeared in in journals including Guernica, Compose, Printer’s Row, and Gravel; he was selected by ZZ Packer as the winner of the 2nd Annual Breakwater Review Fiction Contest.
