13 year-old Nikhil Shah has a kid’s dream job as voice actor for the popular animated series Raj Reddy in Outer Space. When he moves from L.A. to a small town in Ohio, he meets a new group of friends who are involved in the school’s theatre club, and they encourage him to participate. Word eventually gets out about his fame and he gets cast in a lead role in the school play. He is also interviewed for the school paper, where he shares for the first time publicly that he is gay with the school newspaper. When a member of the community sends letters of complaint to the school for fear that he is pushing a gay agenda, life becomes more complicated. What is a boy to do when he learns that real life is more complicated than what he plays on television?

Maulik Pancholy is an award-winning actor whose career has spanned hit television shows (Only Murders in the Building and 30 Rock), animated favorites (Phineas and Ferb, Sanjay and Craig, and Mira, Royal Detective), the Broadway stage, and films.
