Inspired by his grandfather, a chef at the family’s Barcelona restaurant, Vidal enrolled in the Escola de Restauració i Hostelatge de Barcelona at age sixteen. In 2010 he joined Boqueria as executive chef. Named after Barcelona’s picturesque San Josep Market—known worldwide as La Boqueria—these New York and Washington restaurants are deeply rooted in Barcelona’s culinary culture. This beautiful book celebrates that cultural heritage with photographs, stories, and recipes for variations on authentic dishes ranging from colorful tapas like blistered green peppers and bacon-wrapped dates, to seasonal favorites like garlicky sautéed shrimp and saffrony seafood paella.
