Lucia Kay McBath - Standing Our Ground: The Triumph of Faith Over Gun Violence: A Mother's Story — at Politics and Prose at The Wharf

Upcoming Event
Thursday, September 13, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

McBath’s son, seventeen-year-old Jordan Davis, was shot and killed in November 2012 at a gas station in Jacksonville, Florida. The man who shot him thought Davis and his friends had their car stereo turned up too loud. In this courageous memoir, McBath remembers the son she lost and also chronicles how she turned her pain into action. As she recounts her work as the national spokesperson and faith and outreach leader for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, McBath talks not only about her loss and her mission, but also describes the political evolution of America’s gun violence. Vowing to change the nation’s attitude about guns, McBath is running for Congress in Georgia’s 6th District race.
