Laura Kumin - The Hamilton Cookbook: Cooking, Eating, and Entertaining in Hamilton's World

Upcoming Event
Sunday, June 10, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

“We do not know a lot about what Hamilton actually ate,” Kumin admits. But we know a lot about what his contemporaries ate and we have first-hand descriptions of meals he attended. Filling in the gaps with wide-ranging historical, biographical, and culinary research, Kumin, a Huffington Post blogger and the creator of the food blog Mother Would Know, has assembled this collection of nearly two dozen original and adapted recipes. Covering meals from breakfast to soups to main meat and fish courses, along with beverages and dessert, the book explains how to make updated 18th-century favorites such as toaster oven English rabbit, slow cooker corned beef, and a vanilla ice cream “adapted from Thomas Jefferson’s handwritten notes.”
