Ken Auletta - Frenemies: The Epic Disruption of the Ad Business (and Everything Else) — in conversation with Elisabeth Bumiller

Upcoming Event
Thursday, June 7, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Auletta has covered the intersection of media and tech for The New Yorker since the 1990s. His new book draws on his extensive experience and industry connections for an eye-opening look at the fraught state of traditional advertising and marketing in the digital era. A $2 trillion global industry, and crucial to the survival of old media, advertising is increasingly under attack by innovators who substitute data for instinct or perfect technological means of zapping ads. Auletta gives us both sides of these issues, as well as an overview of what might be replacing traditional advertising, through interviews with the heads of venerable media agencies such as GroupM and WPP as well as with the visionaries at powerhouses like Facebook and Medialink. Auletta will be in conversation with Elisabeth Bumiller, Washington bureau chief of The New York Times.
