Kate Schatz and Miriam Klein Stahl - Rad Girls Can: Stories of Bold, Brave, and Brilliant Young Women — In conversation with Mary Beth Tinker ** In the Children & Teens Department

Upcoming Event
Tuesday, September 11, 2018 - 7:00pm

What do the young women in this book have in common? Quite simply, they're amazing. The real-life heroines profiled are making it happen in a range of fields: from skateboarding to rock climbing, from writing to music to advocacy. Meet Trisha Prabhu, who invented an anti-cyberbullying app at age 13; Yusra Mardini, a Sryian refugee who swam a sinking boat to shore, saved 20 people, and went on to compete as an Olympic swimmer. Featuring both contemporary and historic sketches, Rad Girls Can serves as inspiration for all. Another “rad girl,” Mary Beth Tinker, the 13-year old whose Vietnam War protest influenced a landmark Supreme Court Case, will be in conversation with the authors at this event. Ages 10 and up
