Karen Sherman - Brick by Brick: Building Hope and Opportunity for Women Survivors Everywhere — in conversation with Barbara Klein

Upcoming Event
Saturday, February 1, 2020 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

President of Akilah, an all-women’s college in Rwanda, Sherman gained extensive experience in global women’s issues at Women for Women International, where she served as Chief Operating Officer, Executive Director for Global Programs, and, from Kigali, Rwanda, Africa Regional Director. In her compelling memoir, she combines her own story of recovery from abuse with those of the survivors of conflicts in Rwanda, South Africa, Sudan, and Afghanistan. Writing with great empathy, she illuminates many personal and political lessons, drawing from them the common threads of women’s experiences that ultimately transcend borders. Sherman will be in conversation with Barbara Klein, an NPR newscaster.
