Jennifer Steil - The Ambassador's Wife

Monday, August 3, 2015 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Steil’s first book, The Woman Who Fell from the Sky, chronicled her years managing a newspaper in Yemen. In her first novel she draws on another facet of her overseas experience: that of the wife of a European Union ambassador. The story opens with Miranda, an artist, teaching Middle Eastern women to paint. But when she marries the British ambassador and gives up her work, Miranda finds her life painfully constricted. Then she’s taken hostage by a radical organization and loses freedom itself.

Steil will be in conversation with journalist, author, and Book Maven Bethanne Patrick
