@ Busboys and Poets 14th & V: Jamie Brickhouse - Dangerous When Wet: A Memoir

Tuesday, June 16, 2015 - 6:30pm to 7:00pm

From stand-up comedy to heading up publicity at publishing houses, from providing voice-overs for Beavis and Butthead to writing for travel magazines, The New York Times, The Lambda Literary Review, and many others, Brickhouse has led a glamorous and energetic life. And he owes it all, as he recounts in this funny, frank, and poignant memoir, to his Mama Jean. An indomitable, outspoken Texan, Mama Jean had big dreams for her son; she lavished him with gifts, attention, and a taste for partying. When at last his excesses drove him to a suicide attempt, Brickhouse, with his mother’s help, entered rehab and learned to keep his mother’s love from overwhelming him.
