James Symington - Heard and Overheard

Symington’s great-grandfather served Abraham Lincoln; his father, Stuart, was a Missouri senator. The author himself spent four terms in Congress, and also worked closely with Attorney General Robert Kennedy before moving on to the Johnson administration as Chief of Protocol. Symington saw and heard much in both public life and in his subsequent career as co-founder of Smathers, Symington & Herlong. His compendium of wit and witticisms, wisdom and observations, is an idiosyncratic history of recent decades.
