As founder and director of the Center for Mind Body Medicine, Gordon, also a clinical professor of psychiatry and family medicine at Georgetown Medical School, has developed the first program to successfully treat groups suffering from trauma. Presenting the culmination of some fifty years of work at the forefront of integrated approaches to healing, Gordon’s book uses an engaging blend of research, anecdotes, and prescriptive supports to illustrate how his methods can alleviate trauma in populations ranging from refugees to members of the military, as well as helping to reduce stress for stay-at-home mothers, inner-city children of color, and people struggling with severe emotional and physical illnesses.
