Jacqueline Winspear - The American Agent: A Maisie Dobbs Novel — at Politics and Prose at The Wharf

Upcoming Event
Monday, April 1, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Winspear introduced Maisie Dobbs in 2003 and since then has followed the intrepid psychologist/investigator through an engaging set of mysteries stemming from events in both World Wars, the Great Depression, and the Spanish Civil War. The fifteenth book in the series opens just as the Germans are unleashing the blitzkrieg on England. When an American journalist covering the war is found dead, Maisie is called in to help find out what happened. She’s working for both British officials and the American agent, Mark Scott, who helped her escape Hitler’s Germany in 1938, and her attention is split between the case, the man, and a young evacuee she wants to adopt. Writing with her signature attention to detail, Winspear vividly evokes the era and tells a story that’s as moving as it is compelling.
