Gregory B. Jaczko - Confessions of a Rogue Nuclear Regulator — in conversation with Ryan Grim — at Politics and Prose at The Wharf

Upcoming Event
Wednesday, January 16, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

As Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission from 2009 to 2012, Jaczko was pivotal to framing the country’s response to the Fukushima disaster after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Perhaps because he was the rare NRC official without ties to the nuclear industry, he called for major changes in the operation of the nation’s nuclear facilities. Running counter to accepted policy, Jaczko’s recommendations were rejected. Now an adjunct professor at Princeton and Georgetown Universities, Jaczko has written a shocking report of how the agency meant to protect us from nuclear radiation has been disabled by a corrupt and dangerously outmoded nuclear industry.

Jaczko will be in conversation with Ryan Grim, Washington Bureau Chief at The Intercept
