Elena Delbanco - The Silver Swan

Saturday, June 6, 2015 - 3:30pm to 4:30pm

Delbanco taught public policy at Michigan, and was one of three founders of the renowned Bennington Writing Workshops, but for her first novel she draws on her early experience as the daughter of the Beaux Arts Trio cellist, Bernard Greenhouse. Already praised for its rich and passionate depiction of music, performance, and family, Delbanco’s novel focuses on two cellists, a father and a daughter, and the Stradivarius the father plays and that the daughter expects to inherit—until circumstances arise that she could never have imagined.

Delbanco will be in conversation with Alan Cheuse, NPR book commentator, George Mason writing teacher, and author of many books of fiction, memoir, and essays.
