Ed Husain - The House of Islam: A Global History

Upcoming Event
Saturday, June 23, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

A former Islamic radical and co-founder of the Quiliam Foundation, Britain’s first counter-extremism think tank, Husain is acutely aware of how much depends on better understanding between Islam and the West. His book is a detailed primer on Islamic history, the tenets of Islamic belief, and the events and issues that have fueled misunderstandings in recent years, from the legacy of the U.S. overthrow of Iran’s first democratically elected leader to the attack on the Charlie Hebdo office and the emergence of ISIS. Throughout, Husain draws on observations gleaned from his extensive travels in the Middle East and his work with the Council on Foreign Relations and the Tony Blair Faith Foundation to further his belief that Islam and the West can be peaceable allies.
