Douglas Rushkoff - Team Human — in conversation with Cal Newport

Upcoming Event
Thursday, January 24, 2019 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Through writing, teaching, and hosting the Team Human podcast, Rushkoff seeks “people-driven solutions” to the problems of living in a technological age. Professor of media theory at CUNY/Queens and the author of books including Program or Be Programmed, Rushkoff has distilled into one hundred aphorisms a manifesto for remaking society in the image of our common humanity. Reminding us that “we cannot be fully human alone,” he shows how to reverse the trends that have made education merely occupational training, have turned money from a means of exchange into a tool for exploitation, and that threaten to replace human workers with robots, individual judgment with algorithms, and undermine democracy with social media.

Rushkoff will be in conversation with Cal Newport, associate professor of computer science at Georgetown University and the author of five self-improvement books, including the forthcoming Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World.
