Don Fulsom - The Mafia's President: Nixon and the Mob

Upcoming Event
Saturday, January 20, 2018 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

In his third book on Nixon, Fulsom, an adjunct professor at American University and the author of Treason and Nixon’s Darkest Secret, draws on newly released documents, government tapes, and his own deep experience as a White House correspondent during five presidencies to trace Nixon’s ties to organized crime. Starting with Nixon’s long-time political advisor and campaign manager, Murray Chotiner, a lawyer who specialized in representing Mafia figures, Fulsom finds evidence that Nixon was involved for more than twenty years with figures including Meyer Lansky, Mickey Cohen, Jimmy Hoffa, and Carlos Marcello. Nixon returned favors by getting Hoffa out of prison and forbidding government use of “Mafia” and “La Cosa Nostra.”
