Dick Lehr - Trell — in the Children & Teens Dept. **FOR TEENS AND ADULTS

Upcoming Event
Thursday, October 12, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Violence took the life of a young girl on a hot summer evening. In its haste to close the murder of Boston’s youngest-ever victim, the city convicted an African American man using only circumstantial evidence. Romero Taylor was arrested when his daughter, Van Trell, was just a baby. Now 14 years old, Trell is determined to prove her father’s innocence. An actual case from the 1980s of the gang-related death of a 13-year-old inspired this compelling look at the role of investigative journalism. Lehr, formerly a member of the Boston Globe’s Spotlight team, brings journalistic rigor and a storyteller’s eye to this tale of hope, fragility, determination and family.  Ages 12 and up.
