David A. Kaplan - The Most Dangerous Branch: Inside the Supreme Court's Assault on the Constitution — in conversation with Michael Isikoff

Upcoming Event
Friday, October 12, 2018 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Alexander Hamilton called the Supreme Court the “least dangerous branch” of government, but as Congress has become more dysfunctional, the Court has assumed the central role in deciding many of the country’s most divisive issues. In his detailed analysis of this changing balance of power, Kaplan, author of The Accidental President, a study of the Bush v. Gore decision, draws on his twenty-five years of covering national politics, as well as extensive interviews with current and retired justices, former law clerks, and White House and Justice Department officials, to show how the High Court has reshaped the political and social landscape. He looks at key decisions since Roe v. Wade, examines the personalities, quirks and agendas of the justices—including Neil Gorsuch—and weighs in on Brett Kavanagh’s nomination to the bench. Kaplan will be in conversation with Michael Isikoff, Chief Investigative Correspondent at Yahoo! News and co-author of Russian Roulette.
