Dan Rather - What Unites Us: Reflections on Patriotism — at GW Lisner Auditorium

Upcoming Event
Thursday, November 9, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

GW and Politics and Prose Present Dan Rather

“The world is a better place when we have an open exchange of ideas,” Rather states on News and Guts, his Facebook news feed and social media platform. Adding millions of followers to the legions of viewers he won across a career spanning more than sixty years, including over two decades as a CBS anchor, Rather reflects daily on the state of the nation and on the very idea of America. The essays collected here draw on his vast first-hand experience of recent history, including his meetings with presidents from Eisenhower on. Whether celebrating national institutions, re-establishing core values or defining bedrock terms like “patriotism,” Rather brings perspective and reason to a debate too often swayed by fake news and spectacle.

Rather will be in conversation with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jonathan Capehart, member of The Washington Post editorial board, host of the “Cape Up” podcast and MSNBC contributor.

We are unable to take orders for signed copies of this book. The event does not include a public signing. Books will be pre-signed for the first 200 attendees to arrive.
